We learned a lot about the very human desire to hurt those who have hurt us, to seek vengeance in response to being wronged. But we also learned that even when it comes to our brains being wired a certain way, we are never without hope.

Galations 2:20 says “I have been crucified with Christ; and it is no longer I who live, but it is Christ who lives in me.”

What’s true is that there is a biological impulse in our brains for revenge. What’s also true is that God has freed us to choose differently! The chains are broken. Let’s start stepping off the path of revenge and instead, open our hands and leave the desire for revenge in God’s hands.

I am excited to share with you some resources below. You will find the interview from The Bible For Normal People with the author James Kimmel, Jr. which provided many insights into revenge (and insights into forgiveness, which we will cover next week). The full interview is fascinating. I am also attaching a link to his new book.

Blessings in your continued learning,

Pastor Chelsea
